Foxbury is announced a winner!

 Oxfordshire Business is a Winner!

Today the winners of the regional categories of the Annual Countryside Alliance, The Daily Telegraph and Farmers Guardian Awards have been announced. Foxbury Farm Shop, Burford Road, Brize Norton has been declared winner for the South East of England in the category of Best Local Food business. (The criteria for this category can be found at the bottom )

These awards are nicknamed “The Rural Oscars”, they are highly coveted awards promoting the best of British which are nomination led. The process started in the autumn of 2011 with the Finals taking place on the 7th March 2012 at The House of Lords. See what the judges said here

Colin Dawes owner of Foxbury Farm said “We are all delighted, with the doom and gloom in the country it is a great start to 2012 to win such a prestigious award in a competition which is fiercely competitive, my staff and I are looking forward to the finals at The House of Lords”

This award follows 4 silver and 3 bronze certificates awarded to Foxbury Farm Shop in this week’s three counties Sausage and Pie Competition held at The Swan at Streatley. The awards included a Silver for the Wychwood Game Pie, Gloucester Old Pork Pie, Beef & Ale Pie and Beef & Mustard Sausages. All items were made using meat reared at Foxbury Farm.

·       Criteria for Countryside Alliance Local Food Award:

o    Is this retailer championing ‘local food’ and supporting other local producers?

o    Has the community been put on the map by the quality and diversity of local produce being sold, and breathed life into the community/ local economy?

o    Is there a passionate commitment from the retailer? Has this retailer saved or promoted a traditional local food that may otherwise have been lost?

o    Would winning this competition reward a really special enterprise and tell a positive story about rural life?
